Alumni Black Belts
SENSEI WAYNE MARTIN
Sensei Wayne Martin began his Karate career in 1992 purely by impulse. He was signing up his daughters with Kancho Okuyama (IKA), and thought that since he was going to have to wait for them, he might as well join too. Sensei Wayne continued to train with Kancho Okuyama grading to the rank of Sandan in 2001. In 2004, when Sensei Wayne moved to Oakville, he began to train in Milton with Sensei James Burke at the Milton Tsuruoka Dojo. In January 2008, O-Sensei Tsuruoka awarded Sensei Martin with his Yondan. In January 2009 Sensei Wayne Martin began his training in Kodubo.  He also joined Shikomu Karate Club to train with Shihan Kal Helppi.
SENSEI JENNIFER RONEY
Sensei Jennifer Roney began training in 1993 in England under the leadership of Sensei Peter Calver. She received her Shodan in 1999 at age 13 years from Senseis Bernard Coppen, Andy Kidby and Peter Calver of C.F.T.S. (Central Federation of Traditional Shotokan). Having moved back to Scotland in 1999, Sensei Jennifer continued her instruction under Sensei Stuart Ramsay of the Bushido Karate Club. Her father, Sensei Sandy Roney, also opened his own club under C.F.T.S where she helped instruct. Following their move to Canada in 2004, Sensei Jennifer continued her training under the guidance of Shihan Kal Helppi of the Shikomu Karate Club.  She received her 2nd degree black belt in December, 2007.

SENSEI MIRO JURAK
Sensei Miro Jurak began training in 1989 at the Pearson Karate Club under the leadership of Sensei Ken Bowman & Shihan Kal Helppi. In the summer of 1993 Sensei Jurak attended at the Tsuruoka Summer Camp and thereafter received his brown belt from O-Sensei Tsuruoka. In 1994 Sensei Jurak took the BICC course in preparation for his black belt grading. Later that year Sensei Jurak went before the board of the National Karate Association and received his black belt. In November of 2008 Sensei Jurak received his 2nd degree black belt from the United Shotokan Karate Do.
SENSEI ANGELO NOTO CAMPANELLA
Sensei Angelo Campanella began training on June 22, 1985 with Sensei Martin Hunter of Miyabi Dojo in Hamilton. He trained consistently for 16 years, during which time he achieved his Nidan level Black Belt in 1995, sanctioned by Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa and Kancho Kenzo Dozono of the SKIF (Shotokan Karate International Federation).   He was involved in instructing children's and adult classes since 1989, and also participated in tournaments sanctioned by Karate Ontario and the SKIF, by judging, refereeing, and competing. Sensei Campanella also attended numerous seminars with Kancho Hirokazu Kanazawa and Kancho Kenzo Dozono. He has also taken the National Coaching Certificate Program Courses up to Level 3 in 1994. While doing some personal research on Shotokan Karate Do, he found the Shikomu Karate Club. After reading the profiles, the clubs affiliations and looking at the pictures of the students, he found a place with the quality and philosophy of Shotokan Karate Do.  It has been 10 years since he last put on his gi, and now feels it's time for him to rekindle his love for Shotokan Karate Do at the Shikomu Karate Club with Shihan Kal Helppi and the other members.
