2018-05-26 – Modified Schedule and TKAC Black Belt Clinic

There will be a TKAC Black Belt Clinic at the Shikomu Karate Club on Saturday May 26 at 12:30 p.m. lead by Hanshi Kim Dunn. The adult class will run at a modified time.

Modified Saturday Schedule:

  • Children: 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Adults: 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.
  • Black Belts: 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
  • Sensei Sandy has kindly offered TKAC the opportunity to review and standardize teaching of the Shotokan Heian Katas.

2018 Shikomu Invitational Tournament

The Shikomu Karate Club, in affiliation with Traditional Karate Arts Canada, is hosting an invitational tournament on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Robert Bateman High School.

Doors open at 9:00. There will be a meeting at 9:30 for all black belts. Junior and intermediate competition starts at 10:00. There will be a break after the junior and intermediate divisions for medallion presentation. Adult competition and medallion presentation then follows.

For safety reasons, all competitors must wear a mouthguard, hand pads and groin protector during kumite (sparring). Any competitor not wearing this equipment will not be allowed to compete in kumite.

Fees

Fees can be paid to your instructor or at the door. Any cheques should be payable to Shikomu Karate Club.

2017-06-18 “Join the J” open self-defence class

The Shikomu Karate Club is pleased to offer a self-defence a class as part of the Fitness Firm’s Join the J event in support of the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation drive for their Critical Care Centre. In addition to our class, the Fitness Firm will be open to the public all weekend.

The class is on Sunday, June 18 from 10:30 to 12:00 and is open the the public. Members and non-members are welcome with a donation of any amount to the hospital campaign. Any amount in excess of $20 will receive a tax receipt.

Donations to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation can be made online or in person.

SWOR Tournament

We have been invited to participate in an invitational tournament hosted by South Western Ontario Regional Wado-Ryu Karate Do. The tournament will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Caledonia.
